The 18-year-old man will not be facing criminal charges in connection with the crash that killed a bicyclist back in July on Juanita Drive. After month of investigation, King County prosecutors decided there was no real reason to charge the driver with vehicular homicide. The driver will be facing a $42 fine for changing lanes unsafely.
The victim, Przychodzen, was going home after work on his bicycle when he was stuck by the 18 year old man on July 22, 2011.
The victim's family is filing a lawsuit against the driver alleging that the driver might of have been texting at the time of the crash. Chris Davis, an attorney of the victims' family, will be demanding the driver's cell phone records for review. Chris Davis said the victim, Przychodzen, was hit twice by the pick-up truck that the 18-year man was driving. Davis believes the driver was distracted due to texting or using the cell phone. Przychodzen's family wants to know why this happened.
The driver is devastated over the terrible crash.
